Let's Win "Congris"
My daughters are why I'm running.
I have signs hanging all around my office. Some motivational quotes, some patriotic star cutouts and some posters handmade by our amazing volunteers. But there is one sign I always get the most comments on whenever I join a Zoom call: a sign made by my older daughter that reads, “Vote for Mom!”
After the primary, she left me a note on lined paper. It said, “You will win Congris I know it.”
My daughters are the reason I’m running for Congress. These notes remind me every day why I got into this fight, and are why I’ll fight just as hard for your family in Congress as I do for my own. I want to build a safer, brighter future for my kids, and I want that same future to be possible for yours too.
Like every parent, I want to give my daughters every opportunity to succeed. But raising a family today isn’t easy.
We’re living through a cost-of-living crisis. Every trip to the grocery store feels like it costs more than the last. Childcare costs as much as a mortgage. Healthcare costs continue to rise, if you can get an appointment in the first place.
I know these are the problems parents are facing because I’m living through them too. And it’s why I am dedicated to making sure we lower costs and give our kids a brighter future.
In Congress, I’ll fight to make sure that no family pays more than 7% of their income for childcare. I’ll work to reverse cuts to Medicaid and create a public insurance option, so no New Jerseyan goes broke paying for healthcare when they need it. And I will take on the special interests and corruption in Washington that are keeping our prices high.
I drive a 2010 Honda Accord. I make breakfast for my kids in the morning, and at night, I wash the sink full of dishes they managed to use throughout the day. I keep a stash of toys in my campaign office in case I need to bring my girls to work with me.
I’ve gotten to know so many of you over the past seventeen months, and I understand what you want from your representative. In your family, I see my own. In your kids, I see my own. And I promise I will do everything in my power to fight for your family as if it were my own.
It’s time to take action to create the America we want for our kids — one where every child has a fair shot at the American Dream.
So, let’s win ‘Congris’. Together.
– Rebecca
